Joel Okner MD
Dr. Okner is a Board Certified Cardiologist who completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in 1982. He received his Medical Degree in 1987, and proceeded to complete his internship, residency, and cardiology fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Okner was appointed Chief Resident for the Department of Medicine from 1988-1991. He has been practicing in Chicago for more than 20 years. As a passion outside of work, he is a proud member of many non-for profits as well as a frequent guest on WGN Radio discussing and answering health related questions. He has co-authored a book The No Bull Book on Heart Disease. His passion is to educate individuals on living a healthier life.
Yaakov has a vision and passion about bringing the necessary elements required to meaningfully engage with individuals and improve their quality of life through better system designs. By combining a deep respect and understanding for each individuals needs, he has learned of the current limitations of our healthcare system. Yaakov has implemented fresh concepts that provide alternative patient-friendly, and value creating approaches, to individuals, institutions and healthcare systems. Having family from underserved areas of the country Yaakov witnessed first hand the difficulties of getting appropriate care when needed most.
